The introduction of online psychometric testing has saved the world's most famous fast food chain around half a million pounds in recruitment costs.
McDonald's recently revealed it had recruited 20,000 staff since launching its online recruitment system in March last year.
The company has also reported that it is recruiting an average of 1,000 new staff every week online and attracts 1,400 applications every day.
According to McDonalds, the cost savings are primarily driven by the introduction of psychometric testing prior to initial interviews, saving time for interviewing managers.
In August 2008, McDonald's announced it would be recruiting 4,000 members of staff with a large-scale advertising campaign to encourage people to apply.
David Fairhurst, senior vice-president/chief people officer, McDonald's Restaurants Northern Europe, is reported as saying that McDonald's continues to perform strongly, and it's more important than ever that its people are able to concentrate their focus on delivering great customer service in its restaurants.
While the new online system removes the need for cumbersome manual processes it also enables the company to process the large volumes of applications it is receiving each day quickly and efficiently.
It can then make sure it is in a position to spot and take on those that are best suited to its recruitment needs, he added.
