In a recent study with employers, it identified a worrying trend which is not being widely publicised. Savvy employers were using Friends Reunited, LinkedIn, Facebook and Myspace to check up on potential new and current employees.
Not only to check the information stated on the CV's and application but also to gauge the applicants personality outside of their professional career.
As more and more people are joining the social networking revolution. This said many account holders are not enabling the public security settings tightly enough. It has become "cool" to share your antics, thoughts and comments with friends on the internet. You know the kind of thing, the picture of you blind drunk at a party, or moaning about a current employer. But before you upload a picture or comment again, just ask yourself one question, "how would this look to my boss or prospective employer?"
Employers have an arsenal of tools available to them, once it was all about doing well at the interview. But the use of personality tests in the selection process can reveal a great deal, combine this with information found online on social media accounts, it can mean the difference between getting the job or promotion and not getting it.
